This graph shows the diameters of all the known planets, moons, asteroids and other objects that orbit the Sun which have an estimated diameter which is larger than the estimated diameter for Mk 2 the moon of the dwarf planet Makemake. The data was obtained in 2010 from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) databases, which includes information about planetary bodies that orbit the Earth and their natural satellites. Any discoveries after 2010 are not included in this graph.
This data was obtained in CSV and originally stored in XML (used in an SVG animation of planetary orbits). To make this graph it was converted to JSON. The diameter in km of each body was used to draw the circles. Moving the mouse over a planet or its text will reveal more information in a pop-up.
