In my work of project 3, I related the HUE, saturation and lightness of colours with the life status of plants.
Plants will grow leaves and flowers and also all the leaves and flowers will decline and fall in the end. In my project, I related the bloom and fall with the change of saturation and lightness. When the data of saturation increased form small to big, the colour became more and more vivid. I designed leaves show up on the stems for this process. On the contrary, when saturation decreased, the colour became gray, and the leaves disappered. Likely, I related the lightness with the bloom of flowers. When the lightness increased, flowers will bloom; When the lightness decreased, flowers disappeared. Besides, I used the HUE to control the colours of the big circle. As the background of the plant, when the HUE changed, it will change into darker or lighter gray, but never black or white because once it turn to black or white, the leaves or flowers will become invisible.
At the first, I use the scale of leaves and flowers to respond the change of saturation and lightness. However, I found that when the saturation and lightness is very low, the scale of leaves and flowers would become really small and unreadable. After that, I refined my code. I use the change of the number of leaves and flowers rather than the scale. As the process of the data of saturation or lightness growing from small to big, more leaves or flowers will show on the stem, which is more readable and closer to my origin idea. I keep the scale function but use it as the effects. When the leaf or flower show up, it will scale quickly from 0 to 1, just like the growth of leaves or the bloom of flowers.
If I could refine the project further in the future, I may change the effects better to make it closer to the natural growing of plants.
