72 Batman Symbol Silhouettes

This is the full set of symbols from the Roboto poster, omitting the following:

• All three Robin R symbols

  • They are non-interesting and not germane to the Batman logo itself
  • If I ever do a Robin symbol study, however…

• The Batman Inc symbol which is two strokes within a halo

  • With a 52 node shape, I can only do one of the strokes or the halo, so this is a dead end for now

  The Batman-and-Robin symbol from 2004’s New Adventures of Batman and Robin was one I didn’t even think I’d attempt, but it turned out to be a pleasant surprise.

Therefore 71/75 Roboto shapes were traced. The 72nd symbol is the Batman v Superman silhouette. 2/75 symbols are actually for Batgirl.

Many symbols as seen in the Roboto poster have eyes in the cowl section (especially the two cowl-only Batman Comics Group symbols). Others have etchings/line, facial features or other details. This set is the silhouettes only, so all of those features and details are omitted.

These shapes were all generated from the same 52-point source, to carefully match the nodes to the wingpoints, ear points, tail, head, shoulders, neck, etc. with a constant number of nodes between each of those points. Thus, the result is a mostly coherent transition between each Batsymbol silhouette shape.
