Gapminder bubble chart with Voronoi diagram and a simple tooltip. The radius of the bubble encodes the population of each country, while the colors correspond to its geographic region.
The stroke of the hovered circle is drawn on top of everything, improving the tooltip UX.
Note: The original data didn’t contain the regions. I had to join them from this spreadsheet.
